The Digital Health Conference and Hack

Is an exciting two-day event in Leeds on 29th and 30th June 2012. We will identify and attempt to overcome challenges in the delivery of high quality health and social care services, using digital tools and disruptive technologies including social media.

How do I book to come?

For the Conference:

For the Hack:

During Day 1, Held at the Rose Bowl, we will learn from keynote speakers Dr Shaibal Roy (DH Future Forum) and Anne Cooper (Connecting for Health), and attend workshops relevant to the use of digital and social media in healthcare and healthcare education. This will enable us to build a context to the work of co-producing healthcare innovations using digital technology and social media.

On Day 2, based at Old Broadcasting House, we will use the skills and experiences of all the participants to develop solutions to the issues we have identified that currently act as barriers to the use of digital and social media in healthcare.

We will be using co-production in a conversational conference format.

We have called this a “Hack” based on the open source software development term- but you do not need any technical skills to participate.

About our Speakers:

Dr Shaibal Roy used crowdsourcing techniques to directly influence health policy development in the DH MapsandApps project.

Anne Cooper, the National Clinical Lead for Nursing will be delivering the new Information Strategy, mapping the future direction of travel for health and technology.

We will also be hosting workshops from Patient Opinion, regarding the use of digital and social media for patient engagement; and from healthcare education innovators Sarah Bodell and Angela Hook of Salford University, who have used Second Life and social media in healthcare education and professional development.

How do I buy Tickets?

You may buy tickets through Eventbrite, please see

Or, email and request an Invoice be sent out to you for the tickets you require. Tickets will be issued on receipt of payment.

I’m on low income or I’m unwaged.

We really want to have a range of people at the event, and recognise that funding a ticket price is beyond the reach of most carers and people with long-term conditions.

Please apply for one of our “donation” cost tickets, and pay what you can afford. Free is fine. Get in touch by email to if you need help with accommodation costs, as we may be able to release some further sponsorship funds for this purpose.
